Here are some ideas for earning the Australia badge.  Some activities are designed to be done in a patrol or unit, others are designed to be done at home.

Suggestions have been split into ideas for Guides aged under 10 and Guides aged over 10, but feel free to mix and match - as long as it is a challenge for the individual girl!

Under 10

Find out about 3 animals and 3 plants that are only found in Australia.  There is some information on animals here, and some information on plants here.

Know when your family first came to Australia and be able to show on a map where they came from.

Know the names of all the Australian States and Territories and the capital city of each.  There is some information on this website.

Be able to explain what ANZAC stands for.  You can find some background here.

Using the blunt end of a kebab stick, make a dot painting.

Play Kangaroo Skippy Roo (see Games section).

Act out an Aboriginal Dreamtime story.  There are lots of stories to choose from on this website.

Using a Milk Arrowroot biscuit, or similar, nibble an outline of Australia.

Help make Lamingtons or Anzac biscuits.
