EDELWEISS
Actions:
There is a 6-beat clapping action that requires everyone to sit cross-legged in a circle with their knees touching. Everyone puts their right hand palm-down above their right knee, and their left hand palm-up above their left knee. This means that their right hand is resting on their neighbour's left hand.
Clap once with your right hand on your neighbour's left hand.
Clap once on your right knee.
Clap once on your left knee.
Clap once on the back of your left hand.
Clap twice on the top of your left hand.
Repeat for the rest of the song.
Edelweiss, edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me.
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, edelweiss
Bless my homeland for ever.

One day I went to Cecil's house
And he was this big
I said "Cecil, what happened?"
"I ate a whole cabbage leaf"
Repeat the chant, changing the last line to increasing amounts of cabbages (eg 'a whole cabbage patch', 'all the cabbages in [suburb], 'all the cabbages in [state]', 'all the cabbages in Australia', 'all the cabbages in the world').
Once you get to 'world', the next verse sees Cecil back as a tiny caterpillar, and his answer to the question is "I was sick".
DEM BONES
Chorus:
I know it, know it (double clap hands on legs, double clap hands)
Indeed I know it sister (twirl fingers with elbow on opposite palm)
I know it weeee! (double clap hands on legs, single clap hands, throw hands up)
Dem bones gonna rise again (double clap hands on legs, double clap hands)
The Lord decided to make a man

Dem bones gonna rise again (double clap hands on legs, double clap hands)
Took a rib from Adam's side
Made Miss Eve to be his bride.
Put 'em in a garden, all cool and nice
Called that garden Paradise.
Peaches, pears, plums and such
But of this tree you must not touch.
The serpent did go round that trunk
And at Miss Eve his eye did 'wunk'.
In the morn, the Lord came round
And spied the apple cores on the ground.
Adam you must leave this place
And earn your bread by the sweat of your face.
So he took a pick and he took a plough
And that's why we're all working now.
This is the end, there ain't no more
Adam got the apple and Eve got the core.

OLD MOTHER LEARY
Late last night
When we were all in bed
Old Mother Leary lit a lantern in her shed.
And when the cow kicked it over
She winked her eye and said
"There'll be a hot time
In the old town tonight"
Fire! Fire! Fire!
This song starts really soft and gets louder each time it is repeated until it is a yell. Be careful that you are not yelling "Fire!" in a place where others could hear you and get worried.
THUNDERATION
Thunder, thunder, thunderation
We are the Girl Guides Association
When we work with determination
We create a sensation.
This song starts really soft and gets louder each time it is repeated until it is a yell.
JUST SINGING SONGS
AUSSIE OUTBACK GARDEN
What do you do when you go to the loo
In an Aussie outback garden?
You pull down your pants and paralyse the ants
In an Aussie outback garden.
Grab a big gum leaf, wipe your underneath
Cover up the lot with a big pile of snot.
That's what you do when you go to the loo
In an Aussie outback garden.
This song sounds best if sung in a posh English voice.

MY HIGHLAND GOAT
My highland goat
Was doing fine
He ate three shirts
Off my back line.
I took a stick
And gave a whack
And tied him to
The railway track.
The whistle blew
The train grew nigh
My highland goat
Was sure to die.
I took a knife
And cut that rope
And set him free
My highland goat.

OH YOU'LL NEVER GET TO HEAVEN
Chorus: I ain't gonna grieve (ai-eee, ai-eee) my Lord no mo-or-ore
I ain't gonna spit, or swear, I ain't gonna pull my best friend's hair
I ain't gonna grieve (ai-eee, ai-eee) my Lord no mo-or-ore.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in *insert name*'s car
Cause *insert name*'s car won't get that far.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a limousine
Cause the Lord ain't got no gasoline.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a baked bean tin
Cause a baked bean tin has beaked beans in.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a biscuit tin
Cause the Lord don't let no crummy ones in.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a bottle of gin
Cause the lord won't let no spirits in.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a jumbo jet
Cause the lord ain't built no runway yet.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in an elastic bra
Cause an elastic bra won't stretch that far.
Oh you'll never get to heaven on roller skates
Cause you'll roll right past those pearly gates.
Oh you'll never get to heaven on a Boy Scout's knee
Cause a Boy Scout's knee's too knobbly.
Oh you'll never get to heaven in a ping pong ball
Cause a ping pong ball is far too small.
If you get to heaven before I do
Please dig a hole and pull me through.
If I get to heaven before you do
I'll dig a hole and spit on you.
The end, the end there is no more
Said St Peter and closed the door.

Found a peanut last night.
Last night I found a peanut,
Found a peanut last night.
It looked rotten, it looked rotten,

Ate it anyway...
Got a tummy ache...
Called the doctor...
He operated...
Died anyway...
Went to heaven...
Didn't like it...
Tried the other one...
Found my friends there...
Found a peanut...
FIVE LITTLE ANGELS
Five little angels, all dressed in white
Tried to get to heaven on the end of a kite.

So instead of going to heaven they all went to...
Five little devils, all dressed in red
Tried to get to heaven on the end of a bed.
The bed post was broken and down they all fell
So instead of going to heaven they all went to...
Five little Girl Guides, all dressed in blue
Tried to get to heaven on the end of a shoe.
The shoe string was broken and down they all fell
So instead of going to heaven they all went to...

Tried to get to heaven on the end of a screen.
The scre-een was broken and down they all fell
So instead of going to heaven they all went to...
Don't be mistaken, don't be misled,
Instead of going to heaven, they all went to BED.

I’M A NUT
I was just an acorn brown
Lying there upon the ground
Someone came and stepped on me
That is why I’m cracked you see.
I’m a nut, I’m a nut
I’m a nut, I’m a nut, I’m a nut
Called myself on the telephone
Just to see if I was home
Asked myself out for a date
Told myself not to be late.
I’m a nut, I’m a nut
I’m a nut, I’m a nut, I’m a nut
Took myself to the picture show
Sat myself in the very back row
Put my arms around my waist
Got so fresh I slapped my face.
I’m a nut, I’m a nut
I’m a nut, I’m a nut, I’m a nut

QUIET SONGS
CAMPFIRE'S BURNING
Campfire's burning, campfire's burning
Draw nearer, draw nearer
In the gloaming, in the gloaming
Come sing and be merry.
Repeat as a round to open campfire.
SWEDISH FIRE SONG
Light up the fire and form a ring
Let the music echo
Cheerful hearts are calling
Where the flames leap strong and high
Revealing all around us
Fire and song remind us
How our promise binds us
Holding us in one
Burn clear against the sky
Your song is always new
So sing with us and light our way
Until the fire burns through.
SIT ROUND THE CAMPFIRE
Sit round the campfire, now night is here
All birds are resting, no-one is near
Clap with your hands and tap with your feet
Now sway oh so gently, keep with the beat
Oh-oh-oh-i-i, oh-oh-oh-i
Oh-oh-oh-i-i, oh-oh-oh-i
HOLA-HI
Gather round the fire tonight, hola hi, hola ho
Let us sing with all our might, hola hi-la-ho
We remember those happy days, hola hi, hola ho
Spent in the light of a campfire blaze, hola hi-la-ho
First a round and then a song, hola hi, hola ho
Then some yells though not too long, hola hi-la-ho
We remember those happy days, hola hi, hola ho
Spent in the light of a campfire blaze, hola hi-la-ho
Round the world our campfires burn, hola hi, hola ho
While our thoughts to B-P turn, hola hi-la-ho
We remember those happy days, hola hi, hola ho
Spent in the light of a campfire blaze, hola hi-la-ho
MAKE NEW FRIENDS

And that's how long I want to be your friend.

QUIETLY
Quietly in the morning, quietly when dawn is near
Quietly in the sunrise, quietly God is there.
Listen for God in quietness, listen and you may hear
Listen for God in stillness, listen for God is there.
Quietly in the springtime, quietly when leaves appear
Quietly in the greenness, quietly God is there.
Listen for God in quietness, listen and you may hear
Listen for God in stillness, listen for God is there.
Quietly in the evening, quietly when stars appear
Quietly in the stillness, quietly God is there.
Listen for God in quietness, listen and you may hear
Listen for God in stillness, listen for God is there.
Quietly we are gathered, quietly for night is near
Quietly close beside us, quietly God is there.
Listen for God in quietness, listen and you may hear
Listen for God in stillness, listen for God is there.
A SMILE
A smile is such a simple thing
It brightens up your face
But when it's gone, it's hard to find
Its secret hiding place.
But far more wonderful it is
To see what a smile can do
You smile at me,
I smile at you
And so one smile makes two!
SCRAPE NO FIDDLESTICKS
Scrape no fiddlesticks, touch no key
Blow no horn, but sing with me.
Beat no drum, tweedle-dum-dum
Come along girls, now sing with me.
Shh-tweedle-dee
Shh-tweedle-dee
Shh-tweedle-dee
Sing with me.

HEIGH HO
Heigh ho, anybody home?
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Yet I will be ha-a-a-appy.
GUIDE MARCHING SONG
Who are these?
Swinging along the road
With a pack on their backs
A song in their hearts
To ease the load?
It's a hundred years or more
Since they crowded through the door
And they're coming along, as happy and strong,
As ever they came before.
They are Guides all Guides
And in unexpected places.
You'll meet their friendly faces
And a ready hand besides.
And there's not much danger
Of finding you're a stranger
For Commissioner or Ranger
They are Guides, all Guides.
Who are these?
Living beneath the sky
While the shimmering sun
The pattering rain
The clouds pass by?
They will dine beneath the boughs
And their leader always vows
That they're never afraid of wasps
And hardly ever afraid of cows.
They are Guides all Guides
And in unexpected places.
You'll meet their friendly faces
And a ready hand besides.
And there's not much danger
Of finding you're a stranger
For Commissioner or Ranger
They are Guides, all Guides.
Who are these?
Sitting around the fire
They'll be happy to have
Your company if that is your desire.
And the evening will be gay
At the sunset hour of day
With a song to sing,
And a tale to tell
And many a tune to play.
They are Guides all Guides
And in unexpected places.
You'll meet their friendly faces
And a ready hand besides.
And there's not much danger
Of finding you're a stranger
For Commissioner or Ranger
They are Guides, all Guides.

SNOWY RIVER ROLL
Give me a man who's a man among men
Who'll stow his white collar and put down his pen
Who'll blow down a mountain and build you a dam
That's bigger and better than old Uncle Sam!
Roll, roll, roll on your way
Snowy River, roll on your way
Roll on your way until Judgement Day
Snowy River roll.
Sometimes it's raining and sometimes it's hail
And sometimes it blows up a blizzardly gale
Sometimes there's fire and sometimes there's flood
And sometime you're up to your eyeballs in mud.
Roll, roll, roll on your way
Snowy River, roll on your way
Roll on your way until Judgement Day
Snowy River roll.
Give me bulldozers and tractors and hoses
And diesel to ease all my troubles away
With the help of the Lord and of good Henry Ford
The Snowy will roll on her way.
Roll, roll, roll on your way
Snowy River, roll on your way
Roll on your way until Judgement Day
Snowy River roll.
Don't bring your sweetheart unless she's your wife
For here you must follow the bachelor's life
When woman is woman, a man is a fool
You'd get much more work done by a bow-legged mule.
Roll, roll, roll on your way
Snowy River, roll on your way
Roll on your way until Judgement Day
Snowy River roll.
HI-DI-HO
'Tis a life of joy enchanted
O'er the mountain breaks the spring
Sunbeams slanting, wild birds chanting
Do you wonder that I sing?
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-ho
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-ho
Mighty summits stretch before me
Dwarfing every human thing
Nature's glory, round me, o'er me
Do you wonder that I sing?
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-ho
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-ho
Here are treasures, truer, dearer
Than the crowded ways can bring
Faith seems clearer, heavens nearer
Do you wonder that I sing?
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-hi-di-ho
Hi-di-ho hi-di-ho
Hi-di-hi-di-ho
JUBELANA
Jubelana, let us rejoice
Guides all over the world
Jubelana, come raise your voice
Let our song be heard.
Far and near, come let us share
Sending a message of courage and joy
Sorrow will vanish, dark clouds be banished
When our song echoes all over the world.
Jubelana, let us rejoice
Guides all over the world
Jubelana, come raise your voice
Let our song be heard.
For by tomorrow, you'll want to follow
The path that was shown us so long ago
With wisdom he gave us our vision and made us
United in friendship all over the world.
Jubelana, let us rejoice
Guides all over the world
Jubelana, come raise your voice
Let our song be heard.
INTERNATIONAL CAMP SONG
Here we are, from near and far
In camp together for fun
We work together, and we play together
And we laugh together in the sun.
Ev'ry day our hearts are gay
And life is wonderful fun
For you're my friend and you're my friend
We are Guides, every one.
When night is near, the stars appear
The Southern Cross rides high
While campfires flicker and our hearts beat quicker
And our songs echo round the sky.
To their refrain, we'll live again
These days of friendship and fun
For you're my friend, and you're my friend
We are Guides, every one.
MY PIGEON HOUSE
My pigeon house I open wide
And I set all my pigeons free.
They flap their wings and they fly around
And they perch on the tallest tree.
And when they return from their merry merry flight
They close their eyes and they say good night.
Coo coo, coo coo, coo coo, coo coo
Coo coo, coo coo, coo coo.

RAIN
A great way to quieten down the campfire after the action songs, and get everyone ready for the quieter songs.
The leader starts doing an action and slowly moves round the campfire. Girls join in with the action when the leader gets to them, and they must continue that action until the leader comes by again with a new action.
First action – rubbing palms together
Second action – two-fingered clap
Third action – normal clapping
Fourth action – slapping knees
Fifth action – normal clapping
Sixth action – two-fingered clap
Seventh action – rubbing palms together
Silence.
ROVER
See those clouds, rolling on their way
See those stars, shining so gay
Hear the wind in the tall pine trees
And you'll know exactly why I'm free
I am a Rover, rolling along
Rover, singing a song
I am a Rover, until the day I die
Have few friends, but they are true
The mountains, flowers, the sea of blue
I'm just a wanderer, never standing still
And I must go onwards to the hills
I am a Rover, rolling along
Rover, singing a song
I am a Rover, until the day I die
Through this world I'm bound to roam
Without a bed, a fire or a home
But I have a friend and a friend that is true
And that my comrade, that is you
I am a Rover, rolling along
Rover, singing a song
I am a Rover, until the day I die
BARGES
Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering light
Silently flows the river to the sea
And the barges too go silently
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?
Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering light
Starboard shines green and port is glowing red
I can see them flickering far ahead
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?
SOMEWHERE THERE’S A FOREST
Somewhere there's a forest
Where you can stand and dream
And walk alone beside the waters
Of a forest stream.
Where quietness and peace of mind
Are waiting there for you to find
So leave the noisy world behind
For just a little while.
Somewhere there's a seashore
Where the wind is blowing free
And wheeling seagulls call above
The music of the sea.
Where quietness and peace of mind
Are waiting there for you to find
So leave the noisy world behind
For just a little while.
Somewhere there's a hillside
Where you can climb at dawn
And wonder at the sunrise
As another day is born.
Where quietness and peace of mind
Are waiting there for you to find
So leave the noisy world behind
For just a little while.
POURQUOI DONC ATTENDRE DEMAIN
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Ecoute ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Entends-tu ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Le chant de ceux qui ont faim
Ils ont faim de pain, ils ont faim de paix
Dis, n’as-tu rien a donner?
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Ecoute ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Entends-tu ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Le chant de ceux qui ont soif?
Soif de verite, et soif d’etre aimes
Dis, n’peux-tu les desalterer?
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Ecoute ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Entends-tu ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Le chant de ceux qui ont peur
Oui, peur de la vie, et peur de la mort
Dis, n’peux-tu les rassurer?
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Ecoute ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Entends-tu ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Le chant de ceux qui ont cru,
Ils croient a la vie, ils croient a l’Amour,
Avec eux, crois donc et puis va!
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Pourquoi donc attendre demain
Ecoute ce chant, ce chant dans le vent,
Pourquoi donc attendre demain

SING FOR JOY
Sing for joy, sing for love,
Sing for peace, sing for happiness,
Sing as you journey along.
If one man turns to listen to the message that you bring,
One day the world will sing your song.
Joy is for bringing to those who are sad.
Joy is a gift that is free.
Joy is the gladness that brightens each day.
Joy is a song for you and me.
Sing for joy, sing for love,
Sing for peace, sing for happiness,
Sing as you journey along.
If one man turns to listen to the message that you bring,
One day the world will sing your song.
Love is for giving wherever you go.
Love is for showing you care.
Love is compassion and friendship and trust.
Love is a song for everywhere.
Sing for joy, sing for love,
Sing for peace, sing for happiness,
Sing as you journey along.
If one man turns to listen to the message that you bring,
One day the world will sing your song.
Peace is for spreading all over the world.
Peace is the ending of war.
Peace is for justice and freedom and truth.
Peace is a song for everywhere.
Sing for joy, sing for love,
Sing for peace, sing for happiness,
Sing as you journey along.
If one man turns to listen to the message that you bring,
One day the world will sing your song.
TZENA
Tzena, Tzena, Tzena, Tzena,
Can't you hear the music playing in the village square?
*Tzena, Tzena, Tzena, Tzena,
Can't you hear the music playing in the village square?
Tzena, Tzena, join the celebration.
There'll be people there from every nation.
Dawn will find us dancing in the sunlight,
Dancing in the village square.
To be sung as a four-part round, with the next group joining in at the asterisk.
SWINGING ALONG
Low part:
Swinging along the open road
Under a sky that’s clear
Swinging along the open road
In the fall of the year.
Swinging along, swinging along
Swinging along the open road.
All in the fall of the year.
High part:
Swinging along the open road
Swinging along under a sky that’s clear
Swinging along the open road
All in the fall, in the fall of the year.
Swinging along, swinging along
Swinging along the open road.
All in the fall of the year.
LINGER
Mmm I want to linger
Mmm a little longer
Mmm a little longer here with you.
Mmm it’s such a perfect night
Mmm it doesn’t seem quite right
Mmm that this should be our last with you.
Mmm and come September
Mmm we shall remember
Mmm our camping days and friendships true.
Mmm and as the years go by
Mmm we’ll think of you and sigh
Mmm this is goodnight and not goodbye.
Mmm I want to linger
Mmm a little longer
Mmm a little longer here with you.
SAY WHEN
Say when, will we ever meet again
Say when, will we ever meet again
Say when, will we ever meet again
Say when, my friend, say when.
Say why, do we have to say goodbye
Say why, do we have to say goodbye
Say why, do we have to say goodbye
Say why, my friend, say why.
Say where, and I'll meet you right there
Say where, and I'll meet you right there
Say where, and I'll meet you right there
Say where, my friend, say where.
Say when, will we ever meet again
Say why, do we have to say goodbye
Say where, and I'll meet you right there
Say when, say why, say where!
COCKLES AND MUSSELS
In Dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,
She wheeled her wheel barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!
She was a fishmonger, but it sure was no wonder,
For so were her father and mother before,
And they each wheeled their barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!
She died of a fever, and no one could save her,
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone;
But her ghost wheels her barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Alive, alive-oh!
Crying cockles and mussels alive, alive-oh!

CANADIAN VESPERS
Softly falls the light of day
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each Guide should ask
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honour bright?
Shall I guiltless sleep tonight?
Have I done and have I dared
Everything to be prepared?
THE OCEAN IS THE BEGINNING OF THE EARTH
The ocean is the beginning of *the earth
The ocean is the beginning of the earth
All life comes from the sea
All life comes from the sea.
To be sung as a four-part round, with the next group joining in at the asterisk.
OUR CHALET SONG
High up, high on the mountain
We founded Our Chalet
High up, high on the mountain
We founded Our Chalet.
Its sloping roof and wide
Will shelter us without a care
And each Girl Scout and Guide
Shall find a welcome there.
High up, high on a mountain
We'll go to Our Chalet
High up, high on a mountain
We'll go to Our Chalet.
Our simple life is free
Our hearts are light, our songs are gay
We ever shall remember
The joys of Our Chalet.
High up, high on the mountain
We founded Our Chalet
High up, high on the mountain
We'll go to Our Chalet.
And this its dedication
Shall never fail nor be undone
Each race, each creed, each nation
Beneath its roof are one.
WORLD SONG
Our way is clear as we march on
And see! Our flag on high
Is never furled throughout the world
For hope shall never die!
We must unite for what is right
In friendship true and strong
Until the earth
In its rebirth
Shall sing our song! Shall sing our song!
All those who loved the true and good
Whose promises were kept
With humble mind, whose acts were kind
Whose honour never slept.
These were the free
And we must be
Prepared like them to live,
To give to all
Both great and small
All we can give! All we can give!
ONE VOICE
[sung by one person] I am one voice and I am singing
I am one voice and I am singing
I am one voice and I am singing
I am not alone.
[sung by two people] We are two voices, we are singing
We are two voices, we are singing
We are two voices, we are singing
We are not alone.
[sung by ten people] We are ten voices, we are singing
We are ten voices, we are singing
We are ten voices, we are singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are a hundred voices, singing
We are a hundred voices, singing
We are a hundred voices, singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are a thousand voices, singing
We are a thousand voices, singing
We are a thousand voices, singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are ten thousand voices, singing
We are ten thousand voices, singing
We are ten thousand voices, singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are a million voices, singing
We are a million voices, singing
We are a million voices, singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are ten million voices, singing
We are ten million voices, singing
We are ten million voices, singing
We are not alone.
[sung by whole campfire] We are one voice and we are singing
We are one voice and we are singing
We are one voice and we are singing
We are not alone.
LAND OF THE SILVER BIRCH
Land of the silver birch
Home of the beaver
Where still the mighty moose
Wanders at will
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah, boom
My heart is sick for you
Here in the lowlands
I will return to you
Hills of the north
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah, boom
Swift as a silver fish
Canoe of birch bark
Thy mighty waterways
Carry me forth
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah, boom
Here where the blue lake lies
I'll set my wigwam
Close to the water's edge
Silent and still
Blue lake and rocky shore
I will return once more
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah
Boom did-y-ah-dah, boom
CANOE SONG
My paddle's keen and bright
Flashing with silver
Follow the wild goose flight
Dip, dip and swing.
Dip, dip and swing her back
Flashing with silver
Swift as the wild goose flies
Dip, dip and swing.
GO WELL AND SAFELY
Go well and safely,
Go well and safely,
Go well and safely,
The Lord be ever with you.
Stay well and safely,
Stay well and safely,
Stay well and safely,
The Lord be ever with you.
IT’S A SMALL WORLD
It's a world of laughter, a world of tears
It's a world of hopes and a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world
There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world.
AULD LANG SYNE
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand my trusty friend
And give a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
BROWNIE SMILE
There's something in my pocket
That belongs across my face.
I keep it very close to me,
In a most convenient place.
I bet you'll never guess it
If you guess a long long while,
So I'll take it out and put it on.
It's a great big Brownie smile!
VOGELLISI
Wenn du nuemme wuesst

Adelbode liegt in Berner Oberland
D’s Berner Oberland ist schoe-oe-oen.
D’s Oberland, d’s Oberland
D’s Berner Oberland ist scho-oe-oen.
D’s Oberland, d’s Oberland
D’s Berner Oberland ist schoen.
ON MY HONOUR
On my honour I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",
There's a reason here, for a reason above
My honour is to try, and my duty is to love
People don't need to know my name
If I do any harm, then I'm to blame
If I help somebody, I've helped me
And that's the way that it should be.
On my honour I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",
There's a reason here, for a reason above
My honour is to try, and my duty is to love
I've tucked away a song or two
If you're feeling low, there's one for you
If you need a friend, then I will come
There are plenty more where I come from.
On my honour I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",
There's a reason here, for a reason above
My honour is to try, and my duty is to love.
Come with me where a fire burns bright
We can see much better by a candle’s light
But we’ll find more meaning in a campfire's glow
Than we’ll ever learn in a year or so.
On my honour I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",
There's a reason here, for a reason above
My honour is to try, and my duty is to love.
We've made a promise to always keep
We’ll sing "Day is Done" before we sleep
We are Girl Guides together, and when we're gone
We'll still be trying and singing this song...
On my honour I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "aye",
There's a reason here, for a reason above
My honour is to try, and my duty is to love.
