EYES

Here are some ideas for earning the Eyes badge.  Some activities are designed to be done in a patrol or unit, others are designed to be done at home.

Suggestions have been split into ideas for Guides aged under 10 and Guides aged over 10, but feel free to mix and match - as long as it is a challenge for the individual girl!

Under 10

Play Kim's Game with your unit or patrol.

Do an obstacle course blindfolded, with a partner at your side to give directions.

With your patrol or unit, try doing 'drawings in the dark'.  Turn off the lights and try drawing a house, a tree, a person - see who can do the best in the dark.

Have your unit sit in a circle and send one person out of the room to change one thing about themselves (eg undo a button, change hairstyle).  When they come back into the room, everyone has to try and guess what they have changed.

Try walking around the hall with your eyes closed, using a long stick to tap in front of you.  Can you become more confident doing this?

Play I Spy.

Take photos of the Brownies and cut out around the eyes. See if the girls can match the eyes to the Brownie.

Go on a walk, and have a list of different things that you have to spot (eg a bird, a tall tree, a short tree, a dog, a red flower...).

Play Thimble Finding (game number 5 on the website).

Have a visit from a Guide dog and learn about what they do and how to approach them.

Over 10

Learn about optical illusions and show some to your patrol.  There are some good examples here.

Learn about iridology and take turns diagnosing each other.  There is some information here.
